Thank you for visiting the website of the Scottish Timber Trade Association (STTA). I am Russell Paterson, President of the Association and I am pleased that you are interested in, or involved with wood or wood products. Wood is a very versatile material which possesses a wide range of characteristics which make it suitable for an equally wide range of end uses, either in its solid form or in one of the many manufactured products, including wood based sheet materials and other engineered wood products. Another unique attribute of wood is that it is our only truly renewable construction material; it makes a valuable contribution to sustainable development and at the same time, helps to mitigate the effects of climate change.

The Scottish Timber Trade Association is the trade association which represents the technical and commercial interests of timber importers, sawmillers, timber merchants, timber agents, builders merchants and others who supply timber and wood products within Scotland. STTA is the Scottish arm of the Timber Trade Federation of the United Kingdom.
